A special course exploring every corner of Byodoin Temple.
After entering the precinct, come to the reception office for visiting the interior of Phoenix Hall (Hou-ou-do) and reserve your visiting time. The timing and number of visitors entering the interior at one time is limited.

In addition to the basic 50-min. Course, why not receive the Goshuin (a temple stamp which a visitor can receive when visiting the temple), browse for gifts in the museum shop, and enjoy a pleasant break with fine Uji green tea at the Tea Room Toka.
Stop at the Former South Gate, the sub-temples behind Phoenix Hall, the Ougi-no Shiba lawn area and many other spots which tell of the long history of Byodoin Temple.

Glimpse the Course

Basic course covering major attractions in the precinct.
Enter from the Main Gate and continue walking from the side to the front of Phoenix Hall. After seeing the Amida Buddha (Amida Nyorai) from outside through the round lattice window, walk along Aji-ike Pond to the entrance of Hoshokan Museum. View a number of National Treasures and valuable cultural properties then walk behind Phoenix Hall and return to the Main Gate (entry/exit from the South Gate is also possible).
