Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai held the 8th Photo Contest of A Wise Saying A Day Calendar last year under the auspices of the judges, Mr. Kenji Ishiguro, Mr. Yasushi Sugimata, Mr. Masanori Marubayashi, and Ms. Michiko Kaneko. The 32 winning photos will be exhibited with sayings from Buddhist sutras or the founders of various Japanese Buddhist denominations.

We will use these photos in 2023 calendar and in an exhibition to honor the winners and to create an opportunity for people to learn about the spirit of Buddhism.

Patience - Accepting the Truth

Do not dwell in the past, and do not dream of the future.

The teaching of the Buddha is the Middle Way.

Good deeds bring happiness.

A rolling stone gathers no moss.

Let all living beings be happy.

The mind is mountains, rivers, and the great earth.

On August 5, 2022, at 10:00 AM and at 14:00 PM, the ceremony will be held at the exhibition space. Mr. Mohri Suzuki, a calligrapher who wrote the sayings for the calendar, will conduct a calligraphy exhibition and will inscribe your favorite phrases as well.

As a memory of the 50th anniversary of the serialization of “Buddha” by Tezuka Osamu, picture-card-show of “Buddha-The Life of Shakymuni” published by Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai will be held in the photo exhibition space at 10:00 and 13:00 on 4 Aug. The picture-card-show will be played by professional performers and voice actors.
